a garden of green - extra image
about this time last year i went over to the south of france for a little holiday. pretty much all of my french linguistic skills had been replaced by spanish so i downloaded an app called duolingo to help refresh my memory and aide my travelling in the foreign land. as is often the case most of the locals i spoke to had far superior english so i think i only really used what i'd learnt on one occasion, when i bought a baguette in a bakery (i know it sounds cliched but it was true). after i returned to england i promptly forgot all that i had crammed in that brief period last summer. the only reason that it's on my mind is that my next travel destination is also a french speaking country, so i've reopened my app in an attempt to temporarily fill my head with more foreign words. i've got a feeling that it will be more important on this trip as i've heard english isn't as widely spoken. however as i only really have space in my head for one alien language i'm not overly confident that my gallicised spanish words delivered with a british accent will be that comprehensible.
