a world within a world - extra image

a world within a world
eyes locked and shining, can't you tell me what's happening? why should you want any other, when you're a world within a world?
this was a concave lens hanging in a jewellery store in chelsea market, and as such the image you see inside the lens was originally upside down, just like it would appear to the lens in my camera, or the lens in your eye. most of us learn this in science classes at school, but it still amazes me how everything that enters our eyes is then flipped around by our brains so the world is perceived the right way up. i read that scientists had performed experiments where they would wear special glasses which would flip what they see upside down. for the first few days they behaved as you would expect, with great difficulty interacting with the world around them. however after 4 or 5 days the brain would become accustomed to this new vision and they could perform complex tasks such as riding a motorbike with no problems whatsoever. when they would finally take the glasses off everything flipped again and their 'normal' vision went back to being upside down until their brains adjusted again. ǝɹǝɥʇ ʇɥƃıɹ ʇıɥs ʎzɐɹɔ ǝɯos s,ʇɐɥʇ.
