lost to the light - extra image
here's another shot i took at the end of last year as part of a photo workshop in london. back when i posted the last photo from that night i said that i thought i'd make most of the images black and white, and it was this kind of photo i had in mind. i realised when i was setting up my tripod and taking these shots that i found the scenes lacking when there wasn't a focal point of a person in them. and since i had a remote shutter release i thought i'd try standing in front of the camera and attempt a self portrait. it's a bit of a strange dance where you set up the composition and settings, take a test photo, adjust and repeat countless times. it would have been far easier directing a model, but i still prefer this compared to a shot of an empty street.
