in previous years when i made my annual visit to holland park i usually travelled there by bus or train, however as the whole country was in lockdown this year i thought i'd find an alternative to public transport. at first i considered walking, but it would have taken about 4 hours there and back which seemed a bit too much, so instead i settled on cycling. it took me about an hour to get to holland park, which is around 20mins more than it should have, but in my defence i'd never cycled in london before and i had to stop a few times to be sure i was heading in the right direction. i took a slightly different route on the return leg and cycled through hyde park when i saw the golden prince albert memorial glowing in the sunlight. i stopped to take a photo of the statue, and then turned around and took a few more of the albert hall. i combined a couple of those shots for this picture, framing the entrance with a passing, empty bus. it was one of the first reminders this year of how pretty it looks when the sun shines upon this city.
