imagine dying sunflowers - extra image
central park is a pretty big place, and as i'd been walking around the village for a lot of the morning i didn't really feel like exploring all of it. so i had a look at the map and decided where i wanted to go. high up on the list was strawberry fields. i had no idea what it looked like, but even putting the beatles / john lennon connection to one side i figured with a name like that it must look pretty spectacular. wrong. what i found was this mosaic pattern on the ground, four dying sunflowers, and a dozen pissheads arguing loudly and playing i am the walrus on a beaten up ghetto blaster. i don't think it could have been any more depressing if it was john's decaying head impaled on a spike. the phrase 'rolling in his grave' came to mind.
