twistinside - extra image
when i went to tbilisi for the first time i got chatting to a couple of english kids outside a bar who told me this local secret of an abandoned cable car station. they gave me rough directions and instructions, and the following day i set off exploring. it was surprisingly close to the main road, yet also kinda difficult to locate at the same time. but i was able to identify it as i was told there was a broken window, and a metal pole which had been bent backwards to create a small hole to climb through. honestly it looked pretty sketchy, but as i'd met first hand people who said it was possible, i was encouraged to twist and contort my way inside. i'm glad i did as the interior looked awesome, with this windy spiral ramp lit by floor to ceiling windows leading to what used to be the start of a tramway. i'm sure it was pretty fancy in it's heyday, but i like the grungy look it has now it's fallen into disrepair and reclaimed by the local kids.
