hole in the sky - extra image
today is my photoblogging birthday and this corner of the internet has now been in existence for 8 years. when i describe my website to other people i often say that most of the photos in the first few years are poor to average as i'm still learning how to use my camera. there is a steady improvement, particularly when i get my hands on a slr camera, and then it becomes a whole lot more interesting in 2010 when i begin my epic journey around south america. i was concerned therefore that my return from photographing a continent as beautiful and diverse as south america would lead to a significant drop in quality. it's been around 12 months since i said hasta luego and i've noticed that my photographic postings divide (almost exactly) evenly into three camps: england, europe and south america. so how has it been since my last birthday? what have i learned? well i've learned that it pays to not delete your photos - you may discover some cool creatures which you overlooked first time around. i've learned that returning home doesn't mean staying at home - so i can still visit and photograph brand new places. and i've also learned that despite turning my back on the place three years ago - england still provides reasons to turn on my camera. and on that note, i need to pack as i'm off to barcelona tomorrow - see you in year nine...
