i was considering buying a wide angle lens before i went on holiday, however i really couldn't justify it to myself as i had just bought a telephoto lens a few months ago. photography can become a fairly expensive hobby. someone else i was travelling with was thinking the same thing, but she had the genius idea of hiring out a lens for a few weeks. i had no idea you could even do that, but it makes perfect sense. you get to test it out to see if it's worth shelling out all that money on, and if you don't like it or can't afford it you just give it back. you still get to play with it while you're jetting to cool locations, and it's insured so you don't need to stress too much about taking care of a really expensive bit of kit. the good news for me was that she also had a nikon, so we indulged in a bit of lens swapping throughout the holiday.
